Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, mourned today the death of Zenaida Armenteros, winner of the 2005 National Dance Prize.

Renowned artist Zenaida Armenteros, prima ballerina, singer, actress, and founder of the Cuban National Folkloric Ensemble (CFNC by its Spanish acronym), died on Sunday at 94, according to sources from the Ministry of Culture (Mincult).

Around 13 foreign artists from Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Spain have confirmed their participation in the 8th "Ella y Yo" Gathering of Female Singers, to be held from the 10th to the 14th of this month in different venues throughout Havana.
