HAVANA, Cuba, August 24 (ACN) Prominent Caribbean academics and artists talked about Cuba's role in the region as part of the CARIFESTA Festival, held in Barbados.
Prensa Latina news agency reported from Bridgetown that CARIFESTA, the region's most important cultural event, hosted a discussion titled "Talking about Cuba and Fidel", deemed an opportunity to reflect collectively on the island as a political, artistic, and ideological benchmark.
The program of the meeting, which is open to the public and free of charge, described Cuba as a nation that occupies a unique space in the Caribbean imagination and is considered essential to “understand regional civilization", so the talks revolved around history, the Revolution led by Fidel Castro, its political resistance, and its cultural contributions, from music and dance to literature and the visual arts.
The announcement responded to the intention of fostering intellectual dialogue alongside artistic expression and announced a panel of historians, sociologists, writers, and artists from various Caribbean countries, including Cuban poet Nancy Morejon, a special guest at CARIFESTA.
