Tropical depression Two of the current hurricane season which formed in the Gulf of Mexico gained intensity and organization to evolve into Tropical Storm Arlene, a weak system expected to degenerate into a remnant low on Saturday.

Authorities in the westernmost Cuban province of Pinar del Rio activated a temporary working group to take measures aimed at preventing loss of human lives and property damage under any impact of tropical storm Arlene, which approaches northern Cuba.

“Children are at the root Cuban public policy,” said Alejandra Trossero, UNICEF representative in Cuba, at the 1st International Congress on Children and Adolescents Creciendo al Futuro (Growing into the Future).
