Cuban minister of public health, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, said today that during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Cuban scientists have taken great challenges to demonstrate their commitment to the health of the people, as well as the human and professional quality, modesty and selflessness that distinguish them.

Cuba studied 14, 550 samples for COVID 19, detecting 547 new cases. The conuntry has studied a total of 1, 663, 559 samples, with 17, 096 positive (1.02%).

The use of therapeutic drugs as part of the sanitary protocols of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) makes possible, to a great extent, the high rates of COVID-19 recoveries in Cuba, in spite of the current complex epidemiological situation.

A multidisciplinary team of specialists belonging to the Cuban Neuroscience Center (CNEURO) is developing pulmonary ventilators in the country, so that patients who need them can have access to this means of medical assistance.

Cuba studied 14, 261 samples which confirmed 550 new cases, the highest number of positive cases in one day. There are accumulated 1, 634, 430 samples carried out and 16, 044 positive ones (0.98%).

Cuba studied 14,350 samples to detect the COVID, detecting 487 new cases, for a total of 1,620,169 tests carried out and 15,494 positive ones (0.96%).

At the closing of January 10, Cuba studied 13,212 samples to detect COVID 19, accumulating 1,605,819 tests carried out, and 431 new positive cases, 44 of which were patients of pediatric age, under 20 years old.

 The Finlay Institute of Vaccines, belonging to the Group of Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba, BioCubaFarma, signed a bilateral agreement with Iran to complement clinical evidence of the Soberana 02 vaccine candidate.

Cuba studied 12,092 samples, resulting in 344 new positive ones to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, accumulating already 1,565,666 of tests carried out and 13,823 confirmed cases since March.

During almost a year of confrontation with COVID-19, Cuba has shown positive results, which have been possible to a great extent thanks to the national system of science, technology and innovation.

German scholar Norman Paech nominated to the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize the Henry Reeve Medical Contingent, which Cuba has sent to several countries to assist in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cuba reported today the highest number of active cases of COVID-19 since last March: 1,916 people admitted with a positive diagnosis for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the infectious disease.
