Chess was one of the reasons of joy and freedom for the Cuban Five while in prison, says Antonio Guerrero, Hero of the Republic of Cuba in his book Chess towards the Light which was presented on Thursday in the city of Camaguey.

The 26th International Book Fair of Havana, Cuba 2017, wrapped up its initial state in the Cuban capital with figures that show the acceptance it received this year.

Journalist Ignacio Ramonet presented a book on Sunday entitled El Imperio de la Vigilancia (The Empire of Surveillance) which is a reflection on the control of the State of Humanity during the 25th International Book Fair underway at the San Carlos de la Cabana Fortress in Havana.

Days dedicated to Quebec was inaugurated on Sunday in Havana with the presence of the Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto during the International Book Fair underway at the San Carlos de la Cabana Fortress.

The Cuban jazz legend Chucho Valdes won this Sunday the Grammy award in the Best Latin Jazz Album category with his CD Tribute To Irakere: Live In Marciac, the sixth time in his prolific career.

The closing activity to Culture Week in Camaguey on the occasion of the 503rd anniversary of the city included concert on Tuesday with performances by Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco, Los Van Van, NG La Banda, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Tania Pantoja and Venezuelan Singer Jimmy Leon.

The Cuba 2017 International Book Fair will be inaugurated this Thursday at 9 AM at its traditional venue of the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, overlooking Havana bay and it will run through the 19.
