HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 6 (ACN) The University of eastern Holguin province and the Hispanic Center of the University of Rostov will implement a joint modern-technology-based project next May which is expected to benefit local ranching development in the Cuban territory.

The rehabilitation of soil, the management of water sources and the empowerment of ranches are part and parcel of the international program, which counts with the participation of students from both universities.
According to specialist Yamaris Quao, who leads the project on the Cuban side, the initiative will help revert polluting conditions already diagnosed in cooperative farms and ranches particularly in the Holguin municipalities of Banes and Gibara, along with others to be under the project as well.
The idea is not only aimed at environmental protection but also at the preservation of heritage, human and infrastructure values. Rescuing the culture and identity of Cuban farmers is also on the spotlight of the project, said the specialist.
The Department of Local Development and the Environment at the Economic Sciences in Holguin University is currently implementing accords reached with academic institutions from Brazil and Mexico.
