The 14th International Congress on Higher Education “University 2024” is holding today its penultimate sessions with a special program that features forums, a preparatory meeting, talks between American educators and rectors from Cuba and Hungary, project activities, and the Regional Network.

Cuban and U.S. law enforcement authorities met in Washington D.C. as part of their discussions on cooperation in the fight against terrorism, migrant smuggling and immigration fraud, drug trafficking, and other scourges that threaten the security of the two countries.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel told Brazilian Minister of Health Carlos Gadelha that he is willing to resume the broad political, diplomatic and economic exchanges initiated under the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff Administrations.

“It is in the interest of the Cuban and the American peoples to have more opportunities to know and have exchanges with each other and, if appropriate, establish and increase cooperation in health care, education, culture, science and all other fields,” said Carlos Fernández de Cossío, Cuban deputy minister of Foreign Affairs at a meeting with 59 rectors and vice-rectors from various U.S. educational centers held in the context of the 14th International Congress “University 2024”.

 A group of German students visiting this western Cuban province as part of the “Lessons under the Sails” academic program described the locals as kind, generous and heart-sensitive people.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked Mexican head of state Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s recent condemnation of the U.S. blockade of the island, implemented 62 years ago by then President John F. Kennedy through Executive Order 3447 decreeing a total "trade embargo" against the Caribbean nation on grounds that it was getting closer to the socialist community.

Cuba and Brazil strengthened bilateral cooperation in Higher Education after signing 28 accords, two MOUs and a letter of intention between 17 Cuban and 14 Brazilian universities and the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB).

Under the slogan "Family coexistence in equity", the 11th edition of the "Conference on Motherhood and Fatherhood. Equal Rights and Responsibilities" will be held in Cuba February 14 to April 4, under the auspices of the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex).

The 14th International Congress of Higher Education Universidad 2024 hosted today, on its second day of work, the Cuba-Russia Forum, with which both nations will strengthen collaboration in Higher Education.

Given the difficulties in acquiring and processing fuels, the National Office for the Rational Use of Energy in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba ratifies the importance of knowing, spreading and implementing the recent measures dictated on saving.

Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, recalled today the legacy of Camilo Cienfuegos, on the 92nd anniversary of his birth.

With nearly four years dedicated to making visible and preventing violence in its different manifestations, SoLuna, a project based at the Office of the Curator of the City of Matanzas (OCCM), stands out for its actions in community contexts and educational institutions to promote a culture of peace.

With the reactivation of the Brazil-Cuba Binational Management Committee (CGBBC by its Spanish acronym), which has been meeting since last Monday in Havana, both countries have been advocating for boosting cooperation in health, science, innovation and the regulatory area of medicines, equipment and medical devices.
