HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) Under the slogan "Family coexistence in equity", the 11th edition of the "Conference on Motherhood and Fatherhood. Equal Rights and Responsibilities" will be held in Cuba February 14 to April 4, under the auspices of the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex).
Arahazay Lami Hormaza, coordinator of the event, explained that the event will address the processes of maternity and paternity through co-responsibility in the attention to the full and safe development of children and adolescents, within the framework of the construction of a socialist, prosperous and sustainable society.
Lami Hormaza emphasized activities such as the Intersectoral Workshop "Family coexistence: co-responsibility and care", to be held on March 26 and 27; the conference "The family and attention to secure attachment bonds", scheduled for March 19, and community activities in different Havana's municipalities.
Mariela Castro Espin, director of Cenesex, insisted on the character of families as the most important institution in society.
Castro Espín, also in her capacity as president of the conference, stressed the importance of the event in the family contextualization, the recognition of its plurality and the guarantee of the full rights of each of its members.
The laws by themselves do not guarantee the respect of rights and, therefore, it is necessary to develop educational activities of this nature to orient the population, she pointed out.
She also stated that the new Family Code, the Constitution of the Republic and other regulations provide guarantees to achieve an active participation in family life of children, adolescents, the elderly and people with disabilities, and in general, historically invisible populations.
The Conference on Maternity and Paternity. "Equal in Rights and Responsibilities" are the first of four events of scientific dialogue and social activism organized each year by Cenesex.
