HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 5 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, is attending today the opening of the 14th International Congress on Higher Education Universidad 2024, at the Convention Center in Havana.
Esteban Lazo Hernandez, member of the Political Bureau of the PCC and President of the National Assembly of People's Power, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic, are also attending.
The event, whose motto is "Higher Education of the Future: social transformation, quality, relevance and sustainability", will address issues of importance for the current global scenario such as the internationalization of higher education and its link to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, digital transformation and university extension.
All Cuban universities, prestigious international organizations associated with education and experts from more than 15 countries are coming to Havana to discuss the sector's challenges in search of inclusion, equity and quality.
The 14th International Congress on Higher Education Universidad 2024 will take place until February 9.
