Havana hosts second day of 14th International Congress Universidad 2024



HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) The 14th International Congress on Higher Education University 2024 will continue today with its program at the Havana Convention Center.

Central activities, exhibitions, specialized visits, workshops, lectures, forums, conferences, meetings of rectors and panels will be part of this second day of the event, which recently opened its doors to 564 delegates from more than 40 countries, including Cuba, 37 stands from 24 universities and 148 exhibitors.

Advances and perspectives of the contribution of Higher Education in the implementation and fulfillment of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, Higher Education and social transformation, Cuba-Russia and Cuba-Brazil Rectors' meeting, UNESCO's prospective for the Higher Education of the future. Vision from the Latin American and Caribbean context, are some of the topics to be addressed from the different rooms and spaces.

The event, which takes place in hybrid mode, both face-to-face and virtual, has 37 stands from different universities and among the most numerous representations are those of Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, United States, Colombia, Hungary, Spain and Russia.

Also participating will be the sister nations of Venezuela, Mozambique, Uganda, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Guyana, Zimbabwe, Paraguay and Chile.

In addition, Mexico and Cuba took advantage of the occasion and expressed their willingness to cooperate in the field of Higher Education by signing an agreement between the Ministry of Public Education of the United Mexican States and the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba.

On this second day, the cultural proposals of the stand of the University of Arts (ISA by its Spanish acronym) will begin with the participation of students from different faculties, who will make an artistic assembly of their respective manifestations such as theater, music and dance.

With the aim of promoting dialogue and reflection on the role of higher education in social transformation, based on the principles of quality, sustainability and relevance, the event will be in session until February 9 and it is expected that until the last moment the number of participants will exceed expectations taking into account its scope and positioning at regional and global level.
