Cuban Meteorological Institute announces strong swells in the northwestern region



HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) The Institute of Meteorology reported that today winds will be from southwest to west in the west in the morning and in the afternoon will be from west to northwest with speeds between 25 and 40 kilometers per hour, higher in areas of the north coast.

In the rest of the country, winds will be from the southwest between 20 and 35 kilometers per hour in the center, up to 25 kilometers per hour in the east.

There will be strong swells in areas of the northwest and central coast, which could generate light to moderate coastal flooding in low-lying areas of the northwest coast, including the Havana coast.

Swells in the rest of the coasts, increasing in the afternoon to swells in the south of the west and center. There will be light coastal flooding on the south central and east coast, mainly in the gulfs of Ana María and Guacanayabo, as well as in the south of the Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth.

Clouds will prevail in the eastern half of the country with numerous showers, rains and isolated thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy, becoming cloudy in the west in the afternoon with some showers and rains, which will be more isolated in the center.

In the afternoon, maximum temperatures will reach values between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius in the west, up to 29 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country. Temperatures at night will be between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius in the west and center, up to 22 degrees Celsius in the east.
