HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked Mexican head of state Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s recent condemnation of the U.S. blockade of the island, implemented 62 years ago by then President John F. Kennedy through Executive Order 3447 decreeing a total "trade embargo" against the Caribbean nation on grounds that it was getting closer to the socialist community.
In a message posted on X, the Cuban leader stressed that few in the world understand the goal and impact of the said genocidal U.S. Cuba policy like López Obrador, whose efforts in favor of all the peoples of the Americas are only comparable to his impressive work in transforming Mexico.
Díaz-Canel also shared a video of the Mexican president's morning press conference in which he assured that the blockade hinders the development of the Caribbean nation and stated, “What right do you have to blockade a country? This is a violation, not only of international law, but also of human rights; no country has the right to subjugate another.”
