Some 119 Cuban medical doctors will depart for Mexico in January to join a group of their colleagues who are already working in that country’s healthcare centers, according to Zoe Robledo, director of the National Social Security Institute.

 Tanalis Padilla, professor and researcher of history with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently said that Cuba is among powers like the US, the UK and China on the list of countries which develoed their own COVID-19 vaccines.

The deployment in Cuba of WHO’s One Health initiative includes a surveillance strategy based on the risk of an avian influenza emergency, which is essential for the prevention and early detection of this threat to animal and human health, said Doctor in Agricultural Sciences Nivían Montes de Oca Martínez, director-general of the National Center for Agricultural Health.

The anti-COVID-19 vaccination day with the Cuban vaccine Abdala began this week in the 230 health centers of Mexico City, according to the Ministry of Health of the city, which today described the immunogen as safe and effective.

The research "Vaccination against COVID-19 in Cuba: a successful experience of innovative strategy in health" received the Annual Health Grand Prize, the highest award granted by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) to the most relevant scientific results in the field.

Josee Angel Portal Miranda, Cuban health minister, highlighted the recognition of the medical collaborators from Cuba, by representatives of Latin American and Caribbean countries, during the extraordinary session of the Parliament that commemorated the 18th anniversary of ALBA-TCP.

Cuba, as it has demonstrated for more than six decades, will always continue prioritizing life, said Cuban minister of public health Jose Angel Portal Miranda today, following the approval by Parliament on Monday of the State Budget Law 2023.
