Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez lamented the death of Metal Mecánica Varona director Jorge Pérez, whom he described as an enterprising, intelligent man devoted to the advance of his company and his country, and offered his condolences to Pérez’s family and friends.

On the occasion of International Day of Commemoration and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reasserted that Cuba repudiates and condemns terrorism in any of its forms and expressions and made an appeal for peace and against the politicization of this scourge.

The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, will participate today in the tribute to those who died in the extinguishing of the fire in Matanzas, which is being held at the Firefighters Museum in that city.

At the Museum of Firefighters in Matanzas, the population of that city pays tribute today, on behalf of the whole country, to those who died in the extinguishing of the fire in the industrial zone of the province.

A few days ago, as part of its willingness to resume peace talks in Colombia, the new government of Gustavo Petro announced in Havana the decision not to continue considering Cuba as a promoter of terrorism, a pretext used four years ago to stop the political dialogue with the guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the South American country.

Cuban women with outstanding records as members of the island’s Women’s Federation, ratified in this eastern city their loyalty to the Revolution and commitment to continuous efforts towards the development of the country.

The final version of the new Family Code, unanimously approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power on June 22 and scheduled for a popular referendum on September 25, is already published in the Official Gazette of the Republic No. 87.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent his condolences today to the families and friends of those who died in the fire that broke out in the industrial zone of the province of Matanzas, calling them brave Cubans.

We ratify our decision to spare no effort in the fight against climate change and for the development of our countries and our will to support all Caribbean nations in this and any other field,” Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz said at the First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean in Nassau, which will pave the way for the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

 Dr. Jorge Gonzalez Perez, forensic expert in charge of the multidisciplinary team tasked with searching for and identifying the remains of those missing in the fire at the Matanzas supertanker base, said today at a press conference that it was impossible to establish the exact identity of the more than 700 bone fragments of the 14 victims found on site and offered his condolences to their families and friends, who will be therefore unable to claim any unidentified remains.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared official mourning in Cuba from August 8th at 06:00 hours till August 9th at 12:00 hours as tribute to those who fell in duty during the massive fire that affected a supertankers oil depot in the western province of Matanzas earlier this month.
