HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 27 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, exercised his right to vote this morning.
Accompanied by his wife, Lis Cuesta, and recently arrived from his international tour, the president went to the polls to participate in the election process of the constituency delegates.
After casting his vote, Díaz-Canel spoke to the press and explained that this is a civic responsibility because representatives are being elected in the municipalities.
This exercise, he said, is in line with what has been working in recent years to improve socialist democracy within the concept of People's Power developed by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
He added the relationship with the increasing articulation of the mechanisms through which the people participate, and decisions are made on the basis of proposals, criticisms and debates made at the popular level.
The Cuban President stressed that voting is a civic duty and that going to the polls is a right granted by the Constitution of the Republic.
