A total of 455,908 people have been immunized with one or more doses of the anti-COVID-19 Abdala and Soberana 02 vaccine candidates, developed in Cuba, through health intervention in territories and risk groups, the ministry of public health ( MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) reported today.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of COVID-19, has killed 150 people in Cuba so far in May, up to the end of May 15, bringing the total number of deaths since the introduction of the pandemic in March last year to 804 deaths due to complications of the disease.

Specialists and technicians from the Cuban Electronics, Informatics, Automation and Communications Industry Group (Gelect by its Spanish acronym) are working on a project to reuse neonatal incubators that have been discontinued due to electrical problems and whose replacement is limited by the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade.

 Cuba and Mongolia held a business forum in the sector of health and biotechnology said the vice-president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Ruben Ramos on his Twitter account on Thursday.

The Pan-American Health Organization –PAHO—included in a recent report on the fight on COVID-19 Cuba’s Center of Drugs, Medical Equipment and Devises as one of the national regulatory authorities with good experience on the issue.

 The first days of the mass vaccination campaign in Havana with the local COVID-19 candidate vaccine named Abdala, have showed no adverse effects in the involved citizens.
