Havana, Aug 6 (ACN) The Chief of General Staff of Belarus’ Armed Forces, Major General Pavel Nikolaevich Muraveiko was welcomed here with a military ceremony, according to the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces.
The welcoming ceremony took place at a historical site treasuring the mortal remains of Cuban independence hero Antonio Maceo in Havana. Presiding over was First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of Staff of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Roberto Legra Sotolongo.
Muraveiko thanked for the hospitality he has received in Cuba and said that despite the geographic distance between Cuba and Belarus and their particular cultural and historic characteristics, the two nations keep strengthening their supportive and respectful relations.
He said his visit here aims at further strengthening cooperation links and exchanging working experiences with his Cuban counterparts.
The Belarusian high-ranking official stressed the importance of defending concepts like stability and peace under current world conditions and also reinforcing the work with new generations and encouraging them to study of the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between Havana and Minsk. lc
