Deputy Yuri Afonin, Vice President of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (PCFR) and First Vice President of the Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Territorial Relations of the State Duma, was received today at the institutional headquarters of the National Assembly of People's Power, in the Capitol of Havana.

The Council of Ministers, headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, reconvened on Tuesday evening to continue to assess the damage caused by the tornado that hit Havana on Sunday and coordinate the country's efforts for a rapid response.

The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, received on Monday in the Government Palace the Vice President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruíz, during the last day of the working visit made by the Cuban leader to that country.

On the 166th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, the most universal of Cubans, the Fourth International Conference for World Balance was inaugurated in the Convention Center of this capital city. The Office of the Commissioner of the Caribbean Confederation of Professional Baseball (CBPC by its Spanish acronym) reported today "officially and irrevocably" the decision to "withdraw the headquarters of the 2019 Caribbean Series to the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela."

Cuba will return this year to the Can-Am Baseball League as part of its preparation for the Pan American Games to take place in Lima, Peru, from next July 26 to August 11.
The return of a Cuban team to the tournament organized by the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball was agreed during the stay in Havana of executives of that entity.

Cuba and Russia strengthened their economic cooperation and strategic partnership, after the vice president of the island's Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, met with Russian authorities meeting in Moscow, reported Prensa Latina (PL).
