HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 1 (ACN) Dionisio Da Costa Babo Soares, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, will make an official visit to Cuba starting this Tuesday, October 1.
According to the Cubaminrex website, as part of the program, the distinguished visitor will meet with Cuban authorities and carry out other activities.
A Cuban medical brigade with over 150 aid workers provides assistance and teaching services in the Southeast Asian country of more than 1.1 million people, while some 20 Timorese doctors study specialties in Cuba.
Cuba and Timor-Leste established official diplomatic relations on May 20, 2002, making the Caribbean nation the second country, after China, to recognize its independence, after being a Portuguese colony and suffering 25 years of Indonesian occupation.
