HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 3 (ACN) The President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, received on Thursday the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitri Medvedev, who is making an official visit to Cuba.
In the cordial meeting, both sides expressed their satisfaction for the excellent state of bilateral relations, based on the historical friendship ties between both people and governments; they also ratified their will to work for the continuous strengthening of these bonds, and they talked about other international issues.
At the end of the exchange, there was a signing ceremony for bilateral agreements on scientific-technical cooperation and customs activities.
Legal and commercial agreements were also signed for the preservation of aircrafts, modernization and rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure and financing of the supply for the steel and wire armor production of the Acinox Las Tunas plant in the east of the country.
The signatories also agreed to a project that includes the creation of an irradiation center in this Caribbean nation with the Russian support.
Medvedev will visit the Capitolio building, whose dome was repaired and covered with a layer of gold plates thanks to a Russian donation and aid.
Russian PM was accompanied by Yuri I. Borisov, vice president of the Government and head ( from the Russian side) of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technical Collaboration; Andrey A. Guskov, ambassador of that Eurasian country in Cuba; and Sergey A. Riabkov, vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, among other high-ranking officials.
Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice President of the Council of Ministers; Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz and Alejandro Gil Fernandez, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and of Economy and Planning, respectively; Gerardo Peñalver Portal, Cuban Ambassador to Russia; among other ministers and officials were also present.
