The Cuban scientific community resumes today in Havana its traditional tribute to the eminent French scientist André Marcel Voisin (1903-1964), described by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro as an apostle of human health for his praiseworthy work.

Just like it did 65 years ago to the day as Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and the Rebel Army announced to the world the triumph of the Revolution, the Freedom Caravan will arrive today in this city.

The Scientific Committee has extended until January 22 the deadline for the presentation of papers for the 14th International Congress on Higher Education “University 2024”, themed Higher Education of the Future: social transformation, quality, relevance and sustainability, to be held on February 5 to 9 in this city.

Pioneers and people in general gathered this morning at the crossroads of Antonio Maceo and Chicho Torres streets, in the capital of Ciego de Avila, to remember the presence there of the members of the Rebel Army who came in the Caravan of Freedom on a day like today, but 65 years ago.

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz saluted the 40th anniversary of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, a brainchild of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, and sent his regards to those who day by day contribute to develop and strengthen this accomplishment of the Revolution.

After commemorating the 65th anniversary of the passing of the Caravan of Freedom led by Fidel Castro Ruz and the Rebel Army, a representation of the people of the eastern province of Holguin recalled today the historic event that, in 1959, toured the country from Santiago de Cuba to Havana.

The Institute of Meteorology of Cuba (Insmet) reported that in some localities in the interior and south of the western half of the country were registered remarkably cold minimum temperatures, with values between seven and 10 degrees Celsius.
