HAVANA, Cuba, May 20 (ACN) Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel hailed today the re-election of his Dominican counterpart, Luis Abinader, on Sunday's elections.
On X, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba congratulated the president of the Dominican Republic for his victory in the elections, with which he will begin a second term in office until 2028.
Diaz-Canel also reaffirmed his government's will to continue strengthening the historic relations that unite Cuba and the Dominican Republic, a country he described as a brother nation.
Data provided by the Dominican Central Electoral Board on Sunday night showed that Abinader's victory was irreversible, with more than 58 % of votes in his favor, Prensa Latina reported.
