Cuban President signs book of condolence in Iranian embassy



HAVANA, Cuba, May 26 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Havana to offer his condolences for the death of Iranian President Dr. Sayed Ebrahim Raisi and several other officials in a helicopter crash.

The Cuban leader stated, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, that he will always remember his sincere friendship and fruitful meetings with his counterpart, based on their common interest in the development of both nations and the fight against injustice in the world.

“We know [the Iranians] will find the strength to defend the great dreams of peace and national, regional and international prosperity to which President Raisi dedicated his life,” he wrote.

Cuban Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta arrived in Iran as Special Envoy to convey the support and solidarity of the Cuban people after the demise of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahiam, and other Iranian leaders.
