The general secretary of the Union of Latin American Nations (UNASUR), Ernesto Samper criticized the exclusion of Cuba from the Summit of the Americas describing the action as sitting at the dinner table without inviting a family member.

For the fifth time in less than a month, the newspaper The New York Times published a long editorial on Cuba, on this occasion acknowledging the countless destabilizing attempts of the United States designed to cause the fall of the government in Havana, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.

Doctor Ronald Hernandez, a Cuban doctor from eastern Las Tunas province is part of the group of Cuban health professionals who departed for Liberia to assist in the fight on the Ebola virus and he posted a message on his Facebook page with photos reading "We will Overcome and Rerturn."

Dilma Rousseff was reelected in the second round of presidential elections on Sunday with 51, 54 percent of the votes after the counting of 98, 82 of the total, following a close electoral run.
