Evo Morales will be in Cuba for Fidel Castro´s birthday

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 4 (acn) Bolivian President Evo Morales announced on Monday that he will visit Fidel Castro in Cuba on August 13, when the Cuban Revolution leader turns 89.

"On August 13 I will travel to Cuba, although some media outlets and opposition members may be upset with it, I will travel there due to my friendship with Fidel, who is living one more year," said Morales in a news conference at the Government Palace, as cited by BoliviaTV channel.

Morales said that the presidents of the countries with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America regional integration block are organizing visits to the Cuban Revolution leader.

The Bolivian president also stressed the resistance of the Cuban people and their struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that Washington has maintained against the Caribbean nation for over 50 years now.

We hope that President Barack Obama lifts the economic blockade and returns to Cuba the territory occupied by the US naval base in Guantanamo, said Morales as he referred to the ongoing process between Havana and Washington to normalize relations, which he described as an astonishing victory of the Cuban people and their revolution.
