Thongloun Sisoulith, secretary general of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Republic, met today with Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State,who is visiting the Asian country at the head of a delegation to participate in the celebrations in Vientiane for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Laos, among other official activities.

At the United Nations General Assembly, where debate is taking place prior to the vote on the draft resolution on the blockade, the Angolan representative expressed the concern of a large part of the international community over the non-fulfillment of the entity’s will on the issue and the persistence of unjustified sanctions against Cuba.

 The representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations General Assembly today ratified his country's invariable position for the immediate lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba.

 The Russian State Duma defended Cuba's right to live without a blockade, with the approval of an appeal to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the need to put an end to the hostile policy of the United States.

The blockade is still a reality for the people of Cuba and the main obstacle for that nation to develop normally, it was affirmed today on behalf of the member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), of which Honduras assumes the pro tempore presidency.

On behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Uganda's representative to the United Nations General Assembly reiterated the group's energetic opposition to the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against other states.
