HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 29 (ACN) On behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Uganda's representative to the United Nations General Assembly reiterated the group's energetic opposition to the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against other states.
The diplomat stressed that the persistence of these actions not only contravenes the principles of International Law and the United Nations Charter but also threatens the fulfillment of the human rights of the Cuban population.
He pointed out that with its extraterritorial scope, the hostile policy of U.S. imperialism towards Cuba has serious consequences in the financial sector by hindering trade relations with other peoples and extends to the fields of culture, science and sports, among others.
In this way, he roundly condemned the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which in his opinion pursues a manipulated and politicized goal in the global fight against this scourge.
He reiterated the call of the 109 member states of the bloc to the government of the United States to rectify its position and promote actions in an unlawful manner for the normalization of relations between both countries.
