Demands for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years by the United States were heard on Sunday in various parts of the northern country.

Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, Cuban minister of foreign trade and investment, urged to materialize joint projects between his country and Argentina, during a meeting with businessmen of that South American nation in Buenos Aires.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel hailed today the start of the 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties—the first ever to be held in this city—and stressed his conviction that their debates will contribute to strengthen anti-imperialist struggle.

 The fact that Cuba is hosting for the first time the 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties is a recognition of the creative resistance of the people in the face of hardship and of the renewed imperialist offensive against the island, said Angel Arzuaga Reyes, deputy head and coordinator of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Representatives of the communist parties of Greece, Turkiye, Russia and Bangladesh arrived in this city to attend the 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (EIPCO), in which 155 delegates of 79 political parties from 65 countries will participate, including 40 secretaries-general, of whom those from Chile, Paraguay and Peru are already in Cuba.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held meetings in Argentina with his counterparts from the European Union, Slovenia and Lithonia, who expressed their interest in strengthening bilateral diplomatic relations.

Upon stressing in the 39th session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that solidarity should prevail in international activity, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, referred to Cuba’s COVID-19 vaccines and the presence of Cuban medical brigades in 59 countries as an example.
