Cuban President Winds up Official Visit to Russia



Havana, Nov 22 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel wound up a state visit to Russia November 22nd as part of an international tour that will still take him to Türkiye and China.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban President stressed Russia’s solidarity with Cuba and wrote a fraternal farewell message expressing his gratitude for the visit.

Diaz-Canel and his delegation arrived in Russia November 19 from Algeria, where he kicked off the international tour running till November 27.

In Moscow, the Cuban President held official talks with his counterpart Vladimir Putin. The two heads of state inaugurated a monument raised to the memory of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, at a square named after him at Moscow’s Sokol district.

The Cuban leader also met with His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia and expressed his government’s willingness to keep deepening relations of friendship, solidarity and respect with the Russian Orthodox Church.

In a meeting on Monday with the vice-president of Russia’s Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, Diaz-Canel ratified his willingness to find ways to strengthen economic relations and expand political dialog.
