HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 21 (ACN) The final declaration of the Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE by its Spanish acronym), which recently concluded in Berlin, ratified the commitment of the participants to their homeland.
As reported by the Cuban foreign ministry on its website, the meeting took place November 18-20, and discussed actions to support the socio-economic development of the island and to fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
Likewise, Cuban residents in Europe discussed new ways to increase the spread of the truth about their native country through social networks.
The ECRE was attended by Cuba's ambassador to Germany, Juana Martinez, the island's MP Enrique Aleman and the deputy director general for consular affairs and Cubans living abroad of the foreign ministry, Laura Pujol, who referred in her speech to the history of the links between the nation and emigration, and the achievements and challenges involved in this process.
The first deputy minister of the Cuban foreign trade and foreign investment ministry, Ana Teresita González, ratified the government's will to continue creating the conditions for the participation of Cubans in the economic development of the country.
Regarding the meeting, Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked on Twitter the initiatives of his fellow countrymen in Europe in the struggle for the end of the U.S. blockade, their help in confronting the COVID-19, and their determined response to misinformation operations.
Likewise, the Cuban foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, pointed out that in the ECRE, commitment, unity and the strengthening of ties between Cubans living abroad and the homeland prevailed.
