Concepción Campa Huergo, receiver of the degree of Doctor honoris causa from of the University of Havana, was granted the Pro Patria Award, established in 2022 by the Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP) for outstanding scientific groups who excelled in the fight against COVID-19.

The farmer Orelvis Peñate Mesa is working on the construction of an oil extraction plant with the capacity to produce more than 9,000 liters per year from soybean processing, in the Hermanos Ameijeiras Popular Council, belonging to the municipality of Placetas, in the central province of Villa Clara.

Cuba has made progress in 2023 with a view to eliminating all hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) gases by 2030, and is drawing up a plan to do the same with chlorofluorocarbons, widely used in refrigeration, foams and aerosols, and in the production of new products .

During a visit to a medical facilities in this city together with Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the Communist Party in the province, and Governor Mario Sabines Lorenzo, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz insisted on the need to provide quality services, streamline the programs designed for the elderly, and protect the benefits and humanist nature of the existing system.
