HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (ACN) Members of the U.S.-based Cuba solidarity project HATUEY traveled to Havana with a donation of cytostatic medicines for children with cancer and other medical supplies worth 60,000 dollars.
Upon their arrival, activist Gloria la Riva, a great friend of Cuba, said to be happy that they fulfilled their goal of bringing these donations.
“It was possible thanks to the support of many people and organizations such as IFCO Pastors for Peace and the U.S. Party for Socialism and Liberation, friends from Australia, and other people who contributed to the fundraising campaign ‘Cuba is NOT alone against the blockade’,” she stressed.
The delegation is made of some 20 members of HATUEY—which stands for Health Advocates in Truth, Unity and EmpathY—most of them young people who are visiting Cuba for the first time and will be able to talk about their actions in defense of Palestine in the U.S., where university students demonstrating against the genocide in Gaza have been repressed.
HATUEY, established in 2022, is a project mainly made up of health care providers, activists for justice and volunteers concerned about the negative effects of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.
