Cuban president Raul Castro saw off Pope Francis who made a three hour stop-over in Havana to meet Patriarch Kirill, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church.

After an effusive greeting, Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill are holding private talks that should last around two hours in a hall belonging to the Havana´s Jose Marti International Airport.

Dato Dzulkifli, CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and Ibete Fernández, Cuban ambassador to that nation, held a meeting which reaffirmed the willingness to expand bilateral ties.

His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church paid a courtesy visit to the Cuban President Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace in Havana city.

His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and of All Russia, highlighted on Thursday in this capital the bonds of friendship and cooperation uniting his country and Cuba for decades.
He was received at Havana's José Marti International Airport by Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers.

The impact of economic and ecological crises on the full development of women and their treatment by the media will be the focus of discussions at the 12th Latin American Meeting on Gender and Communication, scheduled for May 10-12 in this capital.

Cuba is a symbol for the world that today, as the key to the Gulf, opens its doors to peace, said Reverent Joel Ortega Dopico, President of the island's Council of Churches on the occasion of the official visit of Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francisco to Havana.

The official visit of Cuba by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill from February 11th to the 14th is an example of the good ties between that institution and the island's government and people.

Cuba and Spain agreed in Madrid on Tuesday to continue moving forward in their relations on the basis of mutual respect and benefit, during a visit to that European country's paid by Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice-president of the Cuban Council of Ministers.
