Cuba Honors Victims of 1976 Terrorist Attack against a Cubana AirlinerHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 6 (acn) With the traditional pilgrimage to this capital's Cristobal Colon Cemetery, the victims of the bombing in mid air of a Cubana airliner in Barbados, a horrible act of sabotage that took place in October 6, 1976, were be honored today.

Like every year, the date will be remembered by Cubans, who will take advantage of the occasion to condemn the vile assassination in which the 73 people on board lost their lives.
Twenty four members of Cuba's National Fencing Team, who successfully participated in the 4th Central American and Caribbean Fencing Championship, held in Caracas, Venezuela, were among the passengers who died in the abominable terrorist attack.
National Fencing Commissioner Alhjadis Bandera told ACN that a political-cultural meeting was scheduled for Havana's Cerro Pelado Higher School for the Training of High Performance Athletes.
He added that the main meeting to mark the date was programmed for 4:00 p.m. at the Lazaro Peña Workers Theater, a moment in which the sad event will also be recalled.
Likewise, Bandera said that commemorative meetings and encounters with relatives of the victims would also be held throughput the island, as another way to condemn that terrible act occurred 40 years ago and that had the terrorists of Cuban origin Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch Avila (1926-2011), paid by the United States, as ringleaders.
Also scheduled was a vigil in Havana by the Monument to Jose Marti located at the Revolution Square named after the Apostle, from 10:00 p.m. Wednesday to 12 noon Thursday.
