HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (acn) Cuba and the United States will hold today in Washington the 4th Meeting of the Bilateral Commission.
An official note issued by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) announced that the topics of the previous meeting, held on May 16, 2016, in Havana, will be reintroduced and that "they will agree the new steps that both parties will take during the rest of the year to advance in the process of improvement of relations."
Together with the first meeting on migratory security and the flow of goods between both countries, held on Wednesday, September 28, the 4th Meeting of the Bilateral Commission in Washington is included among the talks begun in November.
The Cuban delegation will demand once again the lifting of the blockade, the return of the territory occupied by the Naval Base of Guantanamo, and the end of the preferential migratory policy toward Cuban citizens.
As a mechanism to monitor bonds between the two countries after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, the Bilateral Commission was created in August, 2015. Its first meeting was held on September 11 of that same year.
