Faced with an avalanche of speeches by representatives of organizations and governments that demanded an end to the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, the United States tried to justify on Tuesday its opposition to the draft resolution against that policy submitted to the United Nations General Assembly.

Cuban Foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez is already in New York for the UN General Assembly vote on the Cuban-sponsored resolution on the necessity to end economic, commercial and financial blockade that Washington has maintained against the island for over 5 decades now.

Nine U.S. governors asked the leaders of their country's Congress to lift the blockade against Cuba.
The governors signed a letter sent to the Capitol where they requested the end of the blockade against Cuba which they assured "prevents the normalization of relations" between the island and the northern nation.

Governmental delegations of Cuba and the United States held technical talks in this capital on services of civil aviation, with a view to establishing regular flights between the two nations.
