Industriales beat away 12-5 Las Tunas thus tying 1-1 their semifinal playoff, while Granma, defending monarch, went ahead 2-1 in their series when winning 7-2 over Matanzas in the postseason of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series,
Industriales took the lead in the very first frame thanks to a 3-run homer by 2B Juan Torriente, but the local squad starred a comeback and in the bottom of the fourth they were ahead 5-4.

Led by Estonian Julia Beljajeva, first in the ranking of the International Fencing Federation (FIE by its French acronym), some 80 athletes from 35 nations will compete in the 2018 Senior Women´s Epee World Cup that will host Havana from next January 19 to 21.

The President of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), Antonio Becali highlighted on Friday in Havana the country's achievements in the sector.

Las Tunas, already qualified to postseason, seems ready to finish in style, and yesterday defeated at home 4-1 Artemisa in the second stage of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series (SNB by its Spanish acronym).

Cuba will compete this weekend with five judokas in the IJF World Master St. Petersburg 2017, in Russia, tournament that will be attended by the best 16 seats in the world ranking in each of the 14 divisions (women and men) and other athletes invited by the organizers.

Pole vaulter Yarisley Silva and boxer Julio César La Cruz were chosen as best athletes of individual sports in Cuba in 2017, in women´s and men´s categories respectively, in a meeting that took place at Havana´s Sports City Coliseum.

The two double-header programs played on Sunday between Pinar del Río-Las Tunas and Matanzas-Industriales ended up both in honors division, so the standings of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series didn´t change.
