Las Tunas beats Pinar del Rio, stays on top in Cuban baseballHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (acn) Las Tunas batted 13 hits, including four doubles, and defeated away Pinar del Río 7-4 in the closing match of the eleven subseries of the second stage of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series.

1B Rafael Viñales, 2 for 2, and LF Jorge Yhonson, 2 for 5, both with a double and two RBIs, were the best batters of the winning side; the later remains on fire as batting leader of the tournament with average of .468.
The win went to left-hander Luis Angel Gomez who allowed four unearned runs and seven hits in 7.1 innings, while Yosbel Alarcon scored his thirteenth save of the season.
Meanwhile, at Victoria de Giron Park, the local and current runner-up Matanzas managed to beat 4-0 Industriales despite batting only three hits, but one of those was a two-run homer by C Ariel Martinez.
Lefty Dariel Gongora pitched 8.1 scoreless innings surrendering only four hits to achieve his fifth win of the campaign, while Noelvis Entenza took the loss after allowing three runs in 2.1 innings.
Due to the rain, the Granma-Artemisa match, scheduled for Bayamo, could not be played.
After these results, Las Tunas remains on top of the standings with an advantage of one game over Matanzas, followed by Industriales (7.5), Granma (8.0), Pinar del Río (11.5) and Artemisa (12.0).
