Intended to raise awareness about nutritional security through visual art, the World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations announced the first creative photography contest in Cuba, called Miradas que alimentan (Looks that Feed).

Come January 9, the conference Elogio Oportuno [Timely Praise] will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the birth of the Mexican poet, painter, designer, journalist and translator Fayad Jamís at the library named after him in Old Havana.

As part of the homage to the renowned Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier Valmont on the 120th anniversary of his birth, his bibliographer Araceli García Carranza Bassetti will speak about the author of Explosion in a Cathedral (Lausanne 1904- Paris 1980) in the program “Libro a la carta”, to be held at the Fayad Jamis Bookstore in Old Havana, where his books The Chase and Reasons of State will be for sale as well.

 Miguel Diaz-Canel, Cuban president, praised today the work of Manuel Mendive, winner of the National Plastic Arts Award (2001), and expressed that it distinguishes the Cuban people as original, diverse, imaginative, overflowing with energy and color.

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), together with young decimeros, launched the campaign Décimas por la No Violencia (Décimas against violence), an effort designed to raise public awareness of the urgent need to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls through the powerful messages conveyed by the traditional language of these stanzas.

The 45th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema organized a panel dedicated to the life and career of the renowned filmmakers Sergio Giral (Cuba) and Geraldo Sarno (Brazil), whose respective fiction films Maluala and Colonel Delmiro Gouveia won the Coral Grand Prize in the first edition of the Festival in 1979.

 The 23rd International Graphic Humor Show of Santa Clara, organized by the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and Melaíto, comic strip supplement of the local daily Vanguardia, will be held in this city on December 19 and 20, 2024.

In the context of the 45th Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, the 2nd Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Animation "Juan Padron in Memoriam" was opened today at the Animation Studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic by its Spanish acronym), in Havana.
