1st Academic Meeting of the University Network for the Arts is opened in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 1 (ACN) The University of the Arts (Isa by its Spanish acronym) opened the 1st Academic Meeting of the University Network for the Arts (RUA by its Spanish acronym), to be held until April 2 at the Palco Hotel in Havana, with the purpose of promoting and strengthening cooperation among art institutions around the world.

The event's program includes nine working sessions to determine the new membership, the development of projects, opportunities for professional training, digital transformation projects and an action plan for this year.

Reynier Rodriguez Perez, vice rector of Cultural Development and Educational Work at ISA, told the Cuban News Agency that the main focus of the event is the academic exercise and will discuss topics such as quality evaluation in Higher Education in the Arts, academic, artistic and cultural exchange, knowledge management, academic, research and artistic development in higher education institutions.

In addition, attendees will discuss the use of new technologies for academic programs, internationalization, communication and fundraising, the source said.

As part of the activities of the RUA Academic Meeting, the representatives will sign agreements and letters of intent to expand cooperation in research and the arts, he added.

On April 2, the 22nd International Scientific Conference on Art and Culture will be held, a space for interdisciplinary dialogue that will include a keynote lecture by intellectual Miguel Barnet on cultural research and national identities.

The Koolage community arts project, which seeks to promote inclusion and creative expression through theater, will also be presented.
More than 40 university institutions from 13 countries, since 2016, have attended artistic and cultural exchanges.
