HAVANA, cUBA, Dec 8 (ACN) The British Council began a day of celebration for its 25 years of work in Cuba, which will last throughout 2023, with activities aimed at English language teaching and artistic-cultural exchange between Great Britain and the Caribbean nation.
Minerva Rodriguez Delgado, director of that organization in Cuba, commented at a press conference that they are currently focused on training teachers, supporting young artists and organizing sustainable music festivals.
According to Rodriguez Delgado, the organization is currently engaged in the preparation of materials and brochures for the training of teachers in areas with difficult access and poor connectivity.
Scott McDonald, executive director of the British Council, who is visiting Cuba, pointed out that the organization's work has benefited more than 100,000 people in a hundred countries, 11 of them in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Helen Silvester, general director of that organization for the Americas, pointed out that the main objective for the next three years is to have an influence on one third of the English language teachers in the region, a goal that has already been achieved in Cuba.
The British Council intends to promote the training of teachers and share new trends in English language teaching, for which it maintains strong working links with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, as well as with universities and other Cuban educational institutions.
