Havana, February 3 (ACN) The Azerbaijan-Cuba Friendship Association issued the following statement condemning the new coercive measures against Cuba imposed by the United States government.

The Azerbaijan-Cuba Friendship Association condemns the renewed escalation of aggression by the United States government against Cuba, specifically its actions to impede oil shipments to the island with the aim of provoking a humanitarian crisis.
We denounce the fact that the US administration, after more than six decades, keeps in place its criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade of Cuba.
These new measures seek to deliver the final blow to the Cuban Revolution, taking advantage of the crisis they themselves have created with policies designed to asphyxiate the Cuban economy.
Our Association rejects the justifications presented by the US government, which are full of shameless false assertions used only as a pretext to justify its aggressive policy.
Cuba poses no threat to regional peace or stability. On the contrary, the U.S. policy of coercion, blackmail, and unilateral sanctions is the real threat to peace, international law, and the right of peoples to self-determination.
The Azerbaijan Friendship Association with Cuba asserts Cuba's sovereign right to maintain normal trade relations with the United States and the rest of the world and reaffirms its confidence that the courageous Cuban people are steadfast in defending their revolution and their sovereignty despite these new unilateral coercive measures.
We call for international solidarity with the Cuban people.
