Association of Cubans in Dominica condemns new US sanctions

HAVANA, Cuba, January 31 (ACN) The Association of Cuban Residents in Dominica condemned the new measure by the United States government imposing tariffs on countries that trade oil with Cuba, considering it a violation of International Law, reported the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cubaminrex.

Due to its importance, ACN reproduces the statement in full.

Statement of the Association of Cuban Residents in Portsmouth,

January 31, 2026.

The Association of Cuban Residents in Dominica strongly condemns the new measure announced by the United States government, which aims to strangle the Cuban economy by imposing tariffs on countries that sovereignly trade oil with Cuba.

These actions, based on unfounded accusations and the absurd characterization of Cuba as an unusual and extraordinary threat, constitute a flagrant violation of International Law and an attack against the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

We reject the policy of blackmail and coercion that seeks to impose restrictions on sovereign nations and economically strangle millions of Cubans.

These measures will not break the will of our people to defend their independence and sovereignty.

From Dominica, we Cuban residents reaffirm that Cuba poses no threat whatsoever to the United States or any other country.

Cuba is a country of peace, solidarity, and cooperation, which has always demonstrated its willingness to engage in respectful dialogue.

We join the international community's call to reject aggression, impunity, and abuse.

We reiterate our firm determination to defend national sovereignty and uphold the values of justice, dignity, and solidarity that define our people.
