
HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) Members of solidarity organizations expressed their support for Cuba and progressive governments in Latin America in Kolkata, India, in the face of threats from the United States, reported the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex.
The event was organized by the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) and Friends of Latin America-India (FOLA-India), with the participation of Cuban Ambassador Juan Marsan, the First Secretary of the diplomatic mission, Maiky Diaz, and leaders of leftist groups.
The program included a minute of silence in homage to the revolutionaries and citizens who lost their lives in the struggle against imperialist forces in the region.
BikasRanjan Bhattacharya, president of FOLA-India, called for strengthening unity in the face of the aggression of Washington and its allies, whom he accused of violating international norms and ethical principles.
Juan Marsan described Cuba's current situation under the threat of US aggression and highlighted the resilience with which the nation confronts the economic, commercial, and financial war imposed for nearly seven decades.
The diplomat expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of the Indian people and affirmed that Cuba will continue on the path of inclusive growth and sustained progress, guided by principles of equity and socialism.
He reaffirmed that the Caribbean nation will defend its socialist policies with determination against imperialist attacks.
Maiky Diaz emphasized the importance of culture in strengthening bilateral ties. In closing, Bhattacharya recalled the words of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, "Socialism or death," which prompted a standing ovation from the attendees.
