HAVANA, Cuba, January 14 (ACN) The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus sent a message of solidarity to the Cuban Parliament, expressing concern about trends that undermine the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, reported Santiago Pérez, Cuban ambassador to that country, through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cubaminrex.
The Belarusian parliament's working group on cooperation with the National Assembly of People's Power expressed concern about the events surrounding the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and described interference in the internal affairs of independent states as a violation of sovereignty.
According to the document, political demands against Cuba and other sovereign countries in Latin America are also worrying, as they promote the logic of force and ultimatums, to the detriment of global and regional stability.
The legislators recalled that Belarus endured the horrors of two world wars and reaffirmed their commitment to the sovereign equality of all states within a multipolar world based on justice and equity and urged the parliaments of all countries to uphold the fundamental norms of international law, stressing that dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to the Charter of the United Nations must be the foundation of communication between states.
In reference to practices that undermine international stability, they warned that any country's attempts to assume the role of "peacekeeper" or "peace policeman" are doomed to failure and bound to cause chaos.
