HAVANA, Cuba, January 13 (ACN) The Cuban-Danish Association condemned the recent US military attacks against Venezuela and the direct threats launched against Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, and other countries in the region, considering them violations of International Law, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry's website, Cubaminrex.
According to the organization, in the fall of 2025, US forces bombed Venezuelan vessels in the Caribbean, and on January 3, 2026, they launched attacks on Caracas, events that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife, who were transferred to New York on charges of narcoterrorism.
The organization described these actions as contrary to the Charter of the United Nations, particularly the articles that protect the sovereignty and self-determination of States.
Following the attacks, US warships were deployed near Cuba, increasing tensions in the region.
The Cuban-Danish Association recalled that Venezuela and Cuba are members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which declared the region a zone of peace in 2014.
The statement pointed out that the threats are justified by the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, reinterpreted by Washington to claim control over the Western Hemisphere, which also affects Greenland and Denmark despite their NATO membership.
The organization also denounced the economic sanctions imposed by the United States against Cuba since 1962 and against Venezuela in recent years, measures that seek to strangle both countries.
"We condemn the unjustified attack against Venezuela and the imperialist threats against peaceful neighboring countries," the Cuban-Danish Association stated in its public declaration.
