Non-Aligned Movement denounces US aggression against Venezuela

HAVANA, Cuba, January 6 (ACN) The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) condemned in a statement the United States military offensive against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which took place on January 3, 2026, with attacks in Caracas and other cities.

According to the statement broadcast by TeleSur, the action constitutes an “act of war” contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and international law, while also threatening regional and international peace and security.

The declaration demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities, respect for Venezuela’s territorial integrity and self-determination, and called for those responsible to be brought before international justice.

The text reaffirmed the inviolability of the immunities of heads of state and government, considered essential guarantees of sovereign equality and the stability of international relations.

In this regard, Venezuela's Permanent Representative to the UN, Samuel Moncada, denounced on January 5 before the Security Council that his country was the target of an illegitimate armed attack, motivated by interests over natural resources, and warned that the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro violates the personal immunity of heads of state.

Moncada urged the Security Council to condemn the unilateral bombing and demand the immediate release of the head of state, warning that the body's authority would be called into question if it allowed these actions to go unanswered.

The diplomat also reported that Venezuelan institutions continue to function and that, in accordance with the Constitution, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez assumed the interim presidency to guarantee internal stability.

The Non-Aligned Movement reiterated its solidarity with the people and Government of Venezuela and stressed that military solutions are not viable means of resolving differences within the international community.

Due to its importance, the Cuab News Agency reproduces the statement in its entirety:
