Cubans in Belgium condemn the kidnapping of the Venezuelan president

HAVANA, Cuba, January 6 (ACN) The Association of Cuban Residents in Belgium (CUBABEL) condemned today the kidnapping of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, calling it an international crime and a violation of multiple international treaties.

In a public statement, as reported by the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cubaminrex, the organization stated that the United States' action is not in response to the fight against drug trafficking, but rather to the interest in seizing Venezuela's natural resources, and recalled that the US president himself acknowledged having spoken with oil companies about entering the country.

CUBABEL rejected Washington's meddling in Venezuela's internal affairs and demanded the immediate release of Maduro and his wife, Deputy Cilia Flores, both democratically elected by the Venezuelan people.

The association also expressed its solidarity with the families of the 32 Cuban combatants who died while on missions in the South American nation, losing their lives during the US military aggression.

In their message, Cubans residing in Belgium reiterated their full support for the Venezuelan people and emphasized that "Venezuela is not alone," while calling for unity to confront the aggression.

Due to its importance, the Cuban News Agency (ACN) reproduces the statement of the solidarity organization in its entirety:

Statement of the Association of Cubans Residing in Belgium (CUBABEL)

The kidnapping of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, is an international crime, flagrantly violating multiple treaties of current international law.

We all know that this is not about fighting drug trafficking, but about seizing Venezuela's wealth.

The President of the United States himself recently declared that he spoke with all the oil companies about entering Venezuela.

The United States doesn't invade countries, it invades resources!

We strongly condemn this kidnapping of a president democratically elected by his people, the interference of the United States in Venezuela, and we demand freedom for President Maduro and his wife.

Full support for the people of Venezuela!

At the same time, we wish to express our deepest condolences to the families of the Cuban combatants who fell in the line of duty in the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Venezuela is not alone!
Together we will prevail!
