Havana, Nov 13 (ACN) The President of Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) Esteban Lazo said in the Angolan capital, Luanda, that the friendship shared by the African nation and Cuba is a shield against adversity.
Attending commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Lazo recalled the special circumstances in which, on November 15, 1975, both countries formalized relations born long time before.
In the presence of the Minister of State and head of the Military House, Francisco Pereira Furtado, Lazo recalled the island's ties with independence movements of the continent and military cooperation in Angolan territories, PL news agency reported.
The top Cuban parliamentarian thanked Angola's solidarity against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island, and also expressed gratitude for the awarding of commemorative medals for the 50 years of independence, in its Honor Class, to the leaders of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel and Raúl Castro.
Esteban Lazo added that the 50th anniversary is not only an opportunity to remember battles and feats of yesterday; it is also a moment to renew the impulse and joint projects in health, education, agriculture, sports and other sectors, he considered.lc
