HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, held a meeting with Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), at the headquarters of the multilateral organization, according to the MINREX website.
During the meeting, both parties addressed the debate that will begin tomorrow at the UNGA on the draft resolution that annually calls for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than six decades.
Baerbock publicly reported the exchange through his official X, where she noted that he spoke with Rodriguez Parrilla about the upcoming UNGA debate on the embargo against Cuba.
The debate session is scheduled for this Wednesday and the vote for Thursday, in a context marked by the international community's historic support for the demand to end the embargo, which has been overwhelmingly condemned for 32 consecutive years.
On October 29, the UNGA will vote for the thirty-second consecutive time on the resolution presented by Cuba, ratifying the isolation of US policy and the international community's near-unanimous support for the island's position.
Rodriguez Parrilla will address the plenary session to denounce the damage accumulated by this policy and reaffirm that it constitutes the main obstacle to the country's economic and social development.
